Matthew 8:23-26 Jesus is in a boat with the disciples on the Sea of Galilee and a pop-up storm appears, which was not unusal. Although, this was no ordinary storm; it was a fierce, sudden, violent, ragging, howling, dark storm. The water is splashing up in the boat, the boat is tossing and turning and Jesus is fast asleep. The disciples wake Jesus up and say: “Lord, we are going to die”! Jesus said to them:
Why are you so fearful, O you of little faith …
Keep in mind: Jesus could have stopped the storm at any time. Jesus could have held back the storm completely. But I believe: Jesus allowed the storm so the disciples could learn a very valuable life long lesson….. Faith & Trust in His Word.
You see: When Jesus got in the boat, He told them to go to the other side. When Jesus told them to go to the other side, that meant…….”Go to the Other Side”. It also meant, nothing would stop them from getting to the other side. God wants us to believe Him and rest in Him and walk by faith, faith in His Word and to trust in His promises, and He is with us
Here are a few of those promises:
Isaiah 41:10 Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’
Matthhew 28:20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
Phil 1:6 being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;
Psalm 148:8 tells us:
“Stormy winds are fulfilling His Word”
Every stormy circumstance and problem in our lives are filtered thru the hand of God. God has given us His Word to stand on, and even when we cannot see or it’s hard to believe or we think the storms of life are going to overwhelm us His promises are sure!
In our story: Jesus rebuked the winds of the sea and there was a great calm.
- God is in charge of the Storm,
- God is in charge of every Virus/Pandemic and Crisis, AND…….
- God is in charge of the Calm. Your circumstances can be overwhelming but the “Calm” of the Lord is all we need
PRAY with me:
—-Lord, I believe you are in charge of all creation, including my life and circumstances. Lord help me, to trust you and to trust your Word. Father, “Calm” my storm. Lord calm my spirit, set me free from FEAR, may I trust in your promises in the midst of the changes that come in life.
In Jesus Name……Amen! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽😀😀
